I do not think that the current citizens of the United States of America have been following the values that the Declaration and Founding Fathers had made for the future. Although they had intended to use a democracy to choose the most just people to be president, the system has been taken advantage of an been cheated with even Celebrates and allegedly corrupt politicians being our only choices for President. Also, even though a future where all men are created equal was imagined, the citizens of the united states is more racially divided than ever. With the shootings of young black men such as Tamir Rice, the racial discrimination of Muslim people such as a young student named Ahmed who was attacked and discriminated for bringing a clock to school. Even though we boast about being the best country in the world, we have become a country that has become divided. As a great man once said, a house divided cannot stand. With all of the social unrest and politcal turmoil, there is without a doubt in my mind that we have strayed far from the intended path of the founding fathers of the United States.

In my opinion, we have not been living up to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence. There have been instances where the United States government has done a good job by representing the people. However, many times we stray away from ideals such as everyone being created equal under the law. Take, for example, the recent violence that we hear and read the news about that has been occurring. Even though under the Declaration we are supposed to be equal, the reality is that people of different race will view society differently. Another reason why I believe that we have not lived up to the ideals of the Declaration is because I believe that our "certain unalienable rights" have been restricted. Our right of freedom of speech has in some ways been limited because of the mixed results of how each individual feel about a certain topic, sometimes preventing us from speaking out in fear of being criticized. I also believe that the mixed feelings of certain topics have also divided the people, preventing all people to view each other as equal.
